Thank you for visiting my blog. I discuss metaphysical determinism as a worldview, the reasons to accept it, and its profound implications for our attitudes and practices. Just a preview: Determinism is the only alternative to magic. Modern physics doesn’t refute determinism. Free will and moral responsibility don’t conflict with determinism; they require it. Determinism’s further consequences for such things as death and the meaning of our lives may astonish you.
I intend this blog as a companion to (not a substitute for) my book Determinism, Death, and Meaning (Routledge, 2022). But the blog will also include topics not covered (or not adequately covered) in the book, as well as corrections to the book and improvements to the way I expressed things.
